The approximately 250 meter long, white, sandy, usually somewhat windier, rugged Caleton Blanco beach is located in the Haría region in the north of Lanzarotes, about 3 km south of Órzola.

The Caleta del Mojón Blanco beach, about 1KM south towards Arrieta, with the same type of white sand, offers similar conditions. Bus line 9 also stops at this beach. (Bus time table here)

Playa del Paso Beach

Playa del Paso Beach, El Golfo, Lanzarote

To the natural, about 120 meters long, secluded, dark, sandy beach Playa del Paso you have two different possibilities.
Once from El Golfo, by walking about 1.5 kilometers over rugged lava rocks along the coast, starting from the parking lot at the north end of the village, in direction to the North, or via an approx. 2.2 KM long, easier to walk footpath through a spectacular scenery with possibilitiy for great landscape photos.

To the parking lot on the road from Yaiza in the direction of El Golfo turn right 1.5 km before El Golfo. To find this parking easier you can use this coordinates of the car park: 28 ° 59’24.55 “N 13 ° 49’0.82” W

The sea at Playa del Paso beach, at the southern end of the Timanfaya, is mostly very wild, why we strongly recommend that you only to stay in very low water and don’t really go to swim at this beach.

Surely you wouldn’t expect sun beds, umbrellas, restaurants, showers, toilets or even a 1st Aid station.

Under any circumstances, do not leave any packaging waste at this jewel of nature, but if someone is going on the way to such treasures of nature, he allways pays attention to this subject, without beeing extra reminded.

The Playa del Paso beach is the perfect place for romantics which enjoy to relax and unwind. The sight of this beach is a real coronation after a short hike to get there.

The Playa del Paso beach is the perfect place for romantics which enjoy to relax and unwind. The sight of this beach is a real coronation after a short hike, but not really a place for to go to swim or dive.

Haría

Haría, Lanzarote

The town of Haría is the capital of the municipality of the same name on Lanzarote.
Haria lies surrounded by Volcanos, in the north of Lanzarote, in the “Valley of the Thousand Palms” and there is no other place on the whole island where canary palms grow in such a variety.

It is said that whenever a girl was born in Haría, a new palm tree grew.

Haría - Haria Lanzarote MarketHaría was often exposed to invasions and pirate attacks throughout his history. In the most devastating of 1586, almost the entire palms were burnt down. The neoclassical buildings at the Plaza de la Constitución date the 19th century, when Haría was temporarily the seat of a constituent assembly. Especially in the 1950s, when during the Franco era many inhabitants moved their homeland in Haría towards South America, Haría suffered under a land run. To this day some of the houses are empty.

Center of the village of Haría is the long, shaded Plaza León y Castillo with laurel and eucalyptus trees. At the eastern end of the square stands the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, reconstructed in 1956 after a heavy storm. Near the Plaza de la Constitución lies the Taller Municipal de Artesania handicraft center, where traditional embroidery, baskets and cloaks are made.
Around the ecclesiastical holiday of San Juan (June 24 to 27 June) colorful salt mats with different motifs are laid out on the streets. This happens during the day and one can observe the people at work before the next day a procession with St. Juan destroys these salt pictures.

In the cemetery of Haría you will find the grave of the artist and conservationist of the island, César Manrique, who moved to a farmhouse, which he rebuilt in 1988, and on 25 September 1992 in his old age Of 73 years he died after an car accident.

Haría is one of the seven municipalities of Lanzarote, with a total population of 4,755 (1 January 2015) on a total area of 106,58 km².
The address of the municipal administration is: Plaza de la Constitución, 1, 35520 – Haría,

Haría is know as the valley of thousand Palms, the Saturday Handcraft-Market is a good destination for a trip. César Manrique lived here the rest years of his life, you can visit his house (Museum) every day.

La Graciosa

La Graciosa – The Graceful, Lanzarote

Caleta del Sebo La GraciosaLa Graciosa is usually only viewed from Mirador del Rio and not planned as an excursion. However if you’re planning a longer stay on Lanzarote, you should visit the “little sister”.

From the small fishing village of Órzola, two companies – Lineas Romero and Biosfera Express, travel daily to La Graciosa, a 30 minute journey. Make yourself comfortable on the 2 decks. Crossings may be a little rough depending on the weather. Below deck is especially interesting for children. Though the glass bottom of the ship one can observe the sea life.

The ferry births at the port of Caleta del Sebo, one of two inhabited villages on La Graciosa. Tourism is still in its infancy, however Caleta del Sebo has restaurants, a bakery, a guest house and even a small nightclub. The locals sunbathe in the beautiful sandy cove of Caleta de Arriba not far from the pier. Awaiting the arrival of ferries are locals with Jeeps. This a good way to travel and also to find out firsthand about life on the island. A one way trip to the beach – Playa de las Conchas costs € 10 or a little bit less. The beach is also accessible on foot, but on hot days, one should consider whether to walk both ways or take a Jeep.

Playa de las Conchas – the beach of shells has a Caribbean feel – white, warm sand and turquoise clear blue water. Spread your towel, make yourself comfortable and enjoy your picnic. Souvenirs of this heavenly place are easy to come by. Take a walk and you’ll find plenty of interesting shells. Long-distance swimming is not recommended at Playa de las Conchas, due to the strong currents. However there’s no problem with surfing with the huge waves.

The walk back to Caleta de Sebo takes about one and a half hours and passing jeeps tend to swirl the sand on the road, so you’re likely to return a little dusty.

Recommend is the last ferry at 6pm during the summer months. When the last tourists leave the island, the hustle and bustle goes with them. The ferry journey back to Órzola is something to sit back and enjoy, as the sun goes down and you gaze at the changing colours on the horizon. For those who decide to stay over night on La Graciosa, a dream experiences awaits – utter peace and tranquility, evening walks along the beach in the setting light of the orangy sun.

Back in the port of Órzola as you disembark and make you’re back to civilisation, provision for the 700 inhabitants of La Graciosa are loaded, giving a feeling that they live a world far apart from hectic western society.

Don’t forget your swimsuit, comfortable shoes, a towel and sun protection. It can be very sunny and hot on La Graciosa.

Playa de Papagayo Beach

Playa de Papagayo Beach in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

Some of the most famous beaches on Lanzarote are the Papagayo Beaches which are located east of Playa Blanca.

From the eastern end of Playa Blanca, you can walk to the 400 m long Playa de Las Mujeres beach with golden yellow sand.

Another footpath over the cliffs, leads you to the approx. 300 m long Playa del Pozo.

From there in south-east direction, you go across the cliffs, to the famous 200-meter-long Playa de Papagayo, where the El Chiringuito bar is waiting for you with refreshments and various meals above the beach.

Another 300 meters long walk, in east direction over the mountain, takes you to the 400 m long Caleta del Congrio beach, which is also visited by many naturist fans.

Further north-east, there is the Playa de Puerto Muelas beach.

Because of usually low waves, all of the Papagayo beaches are also very suitable for families with children.

The Papagayo beaches can be reached by car over a 5 km long unspoilt, toll-free way (€ 3.- / vehicle) which branches off just after the sewage treatment plant of Playa Blanca.

Keep in mind that there are no shopping facilities, as well as restaurants or bars, or first aid stations, apart from above Playa de Papagayo, which is why you should bring enough drinking water.

Bring enough drinking water with you.

Playa del Pozo Beach

Playa del Pozo Beach near Playa Quemada, Lanzarote

The approximately 350 meter long Playa del Pozo beach is located about 1 KM south of the Playa de Arena and is best to be reached on foot with a 30 minute serpentine hike over the hills from Playa Quemada, along the coast.

This beach with its dark gray gravel and its cave-like cliffs is mostly completely deserted and without any people at all.
Often locals visit this beach on weekends with their offroad cars by using a difficult dirt track which starts near Femés.

On the medium-hard hike to Playa del Pozo beach, you will have a spectacular view towards the northern tourist resort of Puerto del Carmen, as well as the neighboring islands of Los Lobos and Fuerteventura. For children under 10 years the footpath is rather risky and not suitable.

The beach is particularly suitable for adventurers and nature lovers.

It is, of course, not guarded, and a beach bar, sunbaths, toilets, garbage cans or even showers on the beach del Pozo beach logicaly  is not available, so you should bring enough  drinking water with you.

wear good shoes,

bring drinking water with you

Barranco del Quiquere Cliffs

Barranco del Quiquere cliffs

On the footpath between Puerto del Carmen and Puerto Calero, after about 1.5 km, this section called Barranco del Quiquere cliff is about 800 m long and offers secluded bays, sunbathing areas and hidden caves.
With a view of the neighboring Fuerteventura nature lovers, who like to swim or snorkel, can spend a wonderful time.
The Barranco del Quiquere area is also particularly popular with naturists.

Like mostly on the south-east coast, the Barranco del Quiquere usually has only a few waves.
From the top of the cliffs, a staircase and to the north and south other, more risky climbing passages are leading down to the water, where you can find and choose your quiet and  more or less hidden spot for your stay.

Entering the water partly is not very easy and the wearing of bathing shoes is rather recommended because of the occasional sea urchins. As the access to the sea, by climbing over rocks and gravel, is quite challenging, this bathing area is rather less suitable for handicapped people and for families with children.

To get to the Barranco del Quiquere by car, turn off the road between the villages of Puerto del Carmen and Puerto Calero after about 1.5 km on the unpaved road towards the sea.
At the end of the path, which after a heavy rainfall sometimes till it gets repaired seems quite risky to drive further, you will arrive at a parking lot, from where after a distance of about 200 meters you arrive above the cliffs.

From there, you can then look out  for your very special spot for your stay.

Divers find and like to use the ideal conditions at the Barranco del Quiquere, too.
Otherwise there is not much more at the Barranco del Quiquere. No sunbeds or umbrellas, no toilets, no trash bins and also no first aid station, only crystal clear water, pure nature and often also hardly other visitors awaits you there.

Don’t forget to bring your bathing shoes and your drinks and your food
