Playa del Reducto Beach

Playa del Reducto Beach in Arrecife, Lanzarote

The Playa del Reducto Beach, which is about 500 meters long, is located just south of the only high-rise building, the famous Grand Hotel, in Arrecife.

Although this beach is located in the middle of the capital, easy to reach by bus, easy to reach for handicapped people and with a shallow entrance and calm water is also suitable for children, it is rather visited and used rather little.

You can park either in the car park under the hotel or free on the parking lot, about 400 meters away, directly at the beach promenade near the Cabildo.

The visit of this beach, which is perfect for swimming, snorkeling or simply relaxing, is ideal after a shopping spree. There are beach chairs and umbrellas, showers.

On the right side of the Playa El Reducto there is a football field and a volleyball field for sports enthusiasts, as well as the posibility to book wind and paddle surfing courses.

People with walking disabilities are easy trasported with an amphibian vehicle of the Lifeguards to the water’s edge, so everyone can easy feel comfortable and relax at this beach.

Against hunger and thirst a nice selection of restaurants, bars and an ice cream shop awaits you very close with a view of the beach. Courses for water sports activities of all kinds can be booked in an adjacent sort shop.

The beach is cleaned daily and the trash can be emptied. This Playa del Reducto beach is very clean, so it was awarded the Blue Ribbon for cleanliness. Sometimes artists create imposing works of art from sand.

Easy to reach by bus, well suitable for children, visited and used only little by tourists.
Perfect for swimming, snorkeling or simply relaxing after a shopping day in the city.

Playa La Canteria Beach

Playa de la Canteria Beach near Orzola, Lanzarote

Located to the west of Orzola, the locations where you can catch the ferry to La Graciosa, the 300 meter long Playa La Canteria beach is the northernmost beach of Lanzarote. It can be reached by a roughly 1 kilometer long well navigable path.

To the north-east of this beach there is a 500 Meters high mountain massif which makes this beach relatively shaded early in the afternoon. Because of this if you want to enjoy the sun do make sure you visit it earlier in the day.

Usually the sea at this beach is quite a bit wild, that´s why it is not really recommended for families with smaller children.

Some little lava stone castles are scuttered on the Playa La Cantería beach to provide a good protection from the wind.

This is a rather secluded, brown sand, sandy beach well suited for romantic walks, nature lovers, and especially enjoyed by surfers as well as bodyboarders.

The only infrastructure on this beach are rubbish bins so make sure you have everything you need with you.

As it happens just as you enter Orzola you will find a well-stocked supermarket, where you can stop to shop for food and drinks, before your visit to this beach.

This is a rather secluded, brown sand, sandy beach well suited for romantic walks, nature lovers, and especially enjoyed by surfers as well as bodyboarders.

Playa de los Charcos Beach

Playa de los Charcos Beach in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

North of Playa de Las Cucharas beach, in Costa Teguise, the, approximately 450 meter long, somewhat quieter and less frequented, bright sandy beach Playa de los Charcos is located.

There are sunbeds and parasols for rent. Visitors of Playa de los Charcos beach find showers, daily emptied bins. This beach is mantained by the local administration of Teguise and cleaned daily.

On this beach the wind is on average more windy then for example the Playa de Jablillo or Playa Bastian Beach, further South in Costa Teguise.
From the adjacent and spacious parking lot this beach is also easy accessible for people with disabilities.

An artificial wall of rocks ensures quiet sea, so this beach is well suited for families, which like to swimming or snorkeling, as well as for pedal boats, kayaks and paddle boards.

Playa de las Cucharas Beach

Playa de las Cucharas Beach in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

Located south of Playa de los Charcos in Costa Teguise you will find the approximately 450 meter long, fine sandy Playa de Las Cucharas beach, which is also very popular with windsurfers.
At this guarded beach, you will find everything you can imagine on a modern tourist beach for relaxation, like sunbeds and parasols, showers and toilets.

At this beach is usualy windier then the other beaches like Playa Bastian in Costa Teguise, this beach section is, especially popular for and with wind- and kitesurfers. You can book, for instance, windsurf lessons at the local Windsurfing Club.
Of course swimming and snorkeling is possible here, aswell as lending a pedal boat or learn how to dive in the neighbouring diving school (E.g. Daivoon).
Various restaurants and bars, as well as supermarkets nearby ensure your physical well-being.

You can reach this beach, which is located in the middle of Costa Teguise, from different directions.
Normally, there are plenty of parking spaces nearby, as well as a taxi station, and a bus stop. The current bus schedule can be found here.

The Playa de las Cucharas beach is also easy to reach for people with disabilities.

Playa Honda Beach

Playa Honda Beach, Lanzarote

The Playa Honda beach stretches for about 700 m beside the beach promenade in Playa Honda between Puerto del Carmen and Arrecife next to the runway of the airport ACE.

You will find gold-colored sand in medium grain size, a mostly moderate breeze and usually only light waves, so this beach is also suitable for children. The beach is very special for swimming and snorkeling. There is enough space for all kinds of beach games and also a volleyball field is not missing. On windy days, wind- and kitesurfers are often seen, too.

On nice and sunny days, especially on the weekends, as Playa Honda beach is also easy to reach by bus and also for the handicapped, easy to reach it gets more lively.

There are toilets, showers, the bins are regularly emptied. There is a selection of restaurants in different price ranges, directly at the beach, as well as accommodations for individual tourists in the immediate vicinity.

The Playa Honda beach is managed and maintained by the municipality of San Bartolomé. You will find more than enough parking spaces on most of the days of the year.

The Playa Honda beach is very easy to get there and spend a relaxing time with all kind of amenities.

Playa de La Garita Beach

Playa de La Garita Beach in Arrieta, Lanzarote

On the outskirts of Arrieta, in the north-east of Lanzarote lies the Playa La Garita, a light-brown sand beach, about 800 meters long, mainly frequented by locals.
This beach is managed by the municipality of Haria. It is also easy to reach for people with disabilities, it offers public shower, toilets, daily emptied trash bins and children’s play ground equipment. On windy days you can also see some windsurfers here.

At the southern end of the beach, where there are larger areas with smaller and larger stones, people who are particularly interested and looking for quiet space find a place to listen to the relaxing sea noise.
In the neighborhood, at the south end of the beach, is also a football field located, which sometimes is used by local youths.

Directly above the lively part of Playa de la Garita beach towards the village you find the typical spanish beach bar Chiringuito and another restaurant.
In both restaurants you can enjoy your meal with a beautiful view of the sea. A small fitness course invites you to burn the calories of the delicious food.

The bus route from Arrecife to arrieta stops in about 400 meters.

The sea is usually very quiet, the entrance into the water flat and otherwise there is hardly any danger and therefore this beach is not guarded. For emergencies there is a first aid station directly next door.

Playa Bastián Beach

Playa Bastián Beach in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

South of Playa Jablillo, on the edge of the tourist resort of Costa Teguise, in the direction to Arrecife, the approximately 250 meters long, light brown and very well for families with children, suited, the quiet, sandy beach Playa Bastian, is located.

There are often stronger winds, but nevertheless the sea is usually calm. The Playa Bastian beach is therefore very good for swimming and snorkeling.

You can rent sunbeds and parasols, there are showers, daily emptied trash bins and in the immediate vicinity you will find various bars, restaurants, as well as children’s play ground equipment.

From Costa Teguise, you can walk along the beach promenade or by bus to the nearby bus stop. If you arrive by car, you will find a good parking place here.

This beach is particularly well-suited for disabled people.

Arrieta

Arrieta, Lanzarote

If you follow LZ-1 in the direction of Jameos del Agua, you will pass the two coastal towns of Arrieta and Punta Mujeres.

Sunrays glisten on the water, small fishing boats sway to the beat of the light waves, locals cast their rods in the hope of a good catch.

ArrietaShortly before entering Arrieta, turn right to the beach Playa de la Garita, also popular with locals and very suitable for children, with access to the popular beach bar “La Casita de La Playa”. On this beach to the north you reach the second recommended bar “El Chiringuito”, with the best access from the side of Arrieta.

In Arrieta there are some good fish restaurants, pizzerias, supermarket and also a stationery shop. Also the supermarket at the gas station with a large assortment, which is also open on Sundays, directly at the entrance to the village, is really well recommended.

The two coastal towns of Arrieta and Punta Mujeres have managed to retain their charm and ambience. Small whitewashed houses with blue or green shutters dominate the village.

In Arrieta you will probably notice the house “Casa Juanita” shining in shades of blue and red. The special location of this charming building, which borders the harbour pier on one side and the Atlantic on the other, is the background of a rather sad story from the early 1920s. At that time a Lanzaroteño built this beautiful house for his lung sick daughter. She was supposed to recover by inhaling the salty sea air, but unfortunately died in early years.
In front of “Casa Juanita” is the small lagoon “El Charcón”, which with its shallow waters is the ideal place to stay, especially for families with small children.

Mácher

Mácher, Lanzarote

Mácher LanzaroteMácher is an elongated village about 9 km south of the airport ACE, above Puerto del Carmen, with 1090 inhabitants (as of 2015), administered by the larger neighbouring municipality of Tias.

The through road from Tias to Yaiza divides the village into Macher Bajo and Macher Alto.

The actual centre is located around the petrol station with the adjacent village church and cultural centre, also called Sociedad.
It is worth stopping here and trying the tapas, for example.
On this main road, approx. 1 km further in the direction of Yaiza, on the right-hand side is the “Asadero de Mácher” with very good ratings in the rating portals.

At the large roundabout there is a shopping centre into which a large and modern Eurospar has moved, which offers a great selection of fresh meat and fish products at particularly favourable prices.

Even without any outstanding tourist attractions, Mácher has developed into a particularly popular place to live for residents and individual tourists seeking peace and quiet relaxation. Beautiful accommodation in Mácher and its surroundings can be found here.

Ideal for shopping in supermarkets and village shops or just to enjoy some typical tappas in the Teleclub of Macher, the Canarian restaurant right next to the petrol station.

Macher is a great little town to experience the true canarian tradition.

An evening game of “bola canaria” in the Asadero de Macher or dinner at the famous restaurant “La Cabaña, where you can sample a variety of typical Canarian food.

Playa Dorada Beach

Playa Dorada Beach in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

From the center of Playa Blancas, along the promenade, you can reach the 300-meter-long, golden yellow Playa Dorada beach aswell by walking in only a few minutes.

Families with children will find everything they could expect from a modern tourist beach.
Sun loungers and umbrellas, public showers, beach bars at both ends of the beach, restaurants, first aid station, as well as various water sports, such as pedal boat and banana boating.
The wind-sheltered Playa Dorada beach is particularly suitable for small children due to its small waves and is also used as a main beach of several larger hotels.

In high season, parking spaces can get rare.
