Lanzarote Golf in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote

Lanzarote Golf is one of the courses, here on the Canary island of Lanzarote that was opened in October 2008.

Located in Puerto del Carmen, one of the most important tourist places in the island, there were just nine holes available when this golf course first opened and it was being visited by between fifteen or twenty players a day. Right now, it has become an important place for playing golf in the Canary Islands and it is being visited by around 25.000 players a year who come from various European cities.

The golf course was designed by the well-known American architect Ron Kirby, Course Project Manager of Jack Nicklaus, a former profesional American golfer by many considered the best player in the golf history.

When Kirby was developing the course, he took into account several aspects: On one hand, he designed the greens to be challenging but not unfair. On the other hand, he also paid attention to the natural contour of the site, keeping the existing rock features and taking advantage of the wonderful views offered by the site. He adapted the original land, retaining its attractive curves in keeping with the idyllic landscape of Lanzarote.

The result was a modern golf course of 18 holes par 72 which is 6.133 metres long. And it is is made up of 4 par 3, 4 par 5 and 10 par 4.

Lanzarote Golf course was designed in a way that any player, regardless of their handicap, can enjoy the game. However, it does not mean that it cannot be a challenging for even the most demanding golfers. (Kirby: “The course should be fun and enjoyable for all players, but not ever be regarded as easy”).

Over the years Lanzarote Golf has continued to evolve and currently it has all the necessary facilities for playing and practising golf. It has a driving range with twenty shooting stations on a carpet, putting green, an approaching area and all required equipment for rent. Moreover, it also has a reception, a pro shop, locker rooms, golf bags storage, club maker and a restaurant with large terraces and wonderful views over the course and the Atlantic Ocean.

It also offers a golf academy for adults and children wanting to to learn how to play golf as well as the ones wanting to practise and improve their swing.

Right now Lanzarote Golf is being visited by a great number of players every day all year round because Lanzarote Golf is the place where the weather is not a handicap.

  1. Proximity to the airport and to the three tourist places of the island where some of the most beautiful beaches and the best hotels are located.
  2. Wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean and Fuerteventura from the golf course.

GOLF DESTINATION - LANZAROTE - EXCELLENT CONDITIONS FOR 365 DAYS A YEAR

By Chris Ernst / MONTEFUEGO Sports Marketing Lanzarote

“IMPRESSIVE” – this what almost all golfers say when they return to the clubhouse after the first round at the Golf & Country Club Costa Teguise. A conclusion that is easy to understand when you take a closer look at the extraordinary architecture of this 18-hole course.

As early as 1978, John Harris, an English golf professional, set out the design for the holes, which seamlessly blend into the unique landscape of the volcanic island of Lanzarote.

The British influence is clearly visible when you take a closer look at the playfully challenging Googlegs and the sometimes tricky fairways.

The entire golf course lies at the foot of an ancient extinct volcano and offers an impressive view of the Atlantic Ocean. And due to the Canarian climate, golf can be played here the whole year round. This is an excellent place to train under the professional conditions.

A team of first-class greenkeepers not only ensures that the fairways are in perfect condition, but also that the flawless greens are very easy to play on.

You play along a volcano, surrounded by over 3500 palms and embedded in an inspiring landscape of lava, cacti and palm trees.

Those who know Lanzarote will also find here on the golf course, a clear commitment to Cesar Manrique’s interpretation of habitat in harmony with the unique nature of the Canary Island.

If you want to discover Lanzarote through golf, you will be able to pursue your passion in front of a unique and unforgettable backdrop.

The design of the course is varied and the changing winds ensure that even the repeated use of this course to constantly delivers new experiences and challenges, thus avoiding boredom.
